About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist Generative AI to join our team at Materna Information & Communications SE. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing innovative data analytics and machine learning solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-performance data analytics and machine learning solutions for our exciting projects.
  • Develop and implement innovative applications in the field of generative AI, such as automated text generation, image recognition, and processing, to unlock new business opportunities and efficiency gains.
  • Provide expert advice to our partners on AI-related topics and present results to our clients.
  • Design scalable data analytics platforms and components, set them up, and maintain them.
  • Develop and further advance our AI strategy, collaborating with other Materna business areas to identify new data analytics and machine learning application scenarios.
  • Conduct training sessions in data science.
Requirements
  • A successful completion of a degree in a field such as computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience with data analytics or machine learning projects, preferably in the public sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of generative AI models, including but not limited to Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), Variational Autoencoders (VAEs), and Transformer-based models for text and image generation.
  • Practical experience with specialized tools and frameworks for generative AI, such as OpenAI's GPT series, Google's BERT and T5, or specialized libraries like PyTorch Lightning or FastAI for generative deep learning.
  • Knowledge of working with large datasets and training resource-intensive models, including optimization techniques to improve efficiency.
  • Experience in applying generative AI models in real-world scenarios, such as content production, data enrichment, anomaly detection, or simulation and prediction of scenarios.
  • Creativity and innovation in identifying and implementing new application scenarios for generative AI in various industries and fields.
  • Practical experience in machine learning, including areas such as natural language processing, deep learning, Bayesian methods, logic-based machine learning, or kernel methods with applications in structured and unstructured data analysis.
  • Comprehensive experience with SQL, Python, R, and other relevant ML libraries, ideally also experience with TensorFlow, Keras, NLTK, Torch, Spark, Hadoop, Java EE, Kafka, or Splunk.
  • Excellent German and good English language skills in writing and speaking.
