Job Title: Legal Research Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Research Officer to join our team at the Blockchain & Climate Institute. As a Legal Research Officer, you will play a critical role in supporting our mission to promote the adoption of blockchain technology in the fight against climate change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on climate change-related legislation and regulation;
  • Engage with stakeholders, including legislators, regulators, lawyers, and policymakers, to establish strategic partnerships;
  • Develop rigorous methodologies for legal research projects and conduct independent legal research and analyses;
  • Communicate research findings and insights at international conferences or high-level events.

Requirements:

  • Excellent oral communication skills and ability to develop effective working relationships;
  • Purpose-driven professional with a passion for climate justice, innovation, and complex systems;
  • Fluency in one of the following languages is desirable: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish;
  • Strong in-depth knowledge of big data (security), climate change, UNFCCC processes, and public international laws related to climate change and the environment;
  • Basic understanding of distributed ledger technology, token economy, smart contracts, and crypto-assets;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research databases such as Lexis Nexis;
  • Familiarity with academic and referencing tools such as Mendeley;
  • A Degree in law is required, and a Master's degree in International Environmental Law, Climate Policy, or Information Technology Law is highly desirable.

Selection Process:

We are pleased to open the door for candidates who may not have prior experience in this field. To recruit the most suitable candidates, we will consider inexperienced candidates who can demonstrate the required skills in the written assessment. The selection process will include a verbal and numerical reasoning test, a situation judgement test, and an in-tray exercise. Candidates who pass all three sections will be invited to attend a phone screening, first interview, and final interview online.
