Battery Systems Test Engineer

The role focuses on orchestrating and executing comprehensive testing protocols for battery systems and battery management systems (BMS). This encompasses both developmental assessments and validation testing for product certification.
Your contributions will be crucial in crafting a secure and efficient battery and BMS through rigorous development and validation testing. You will oversee the entire testing lifecycle, which includes planning processes, preparing documentation, strategizing test hardware, scheduling testing activities, constructing test setups, conducting tests, and collaborating with development teams for root cause analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the formulation and scheduling of test plans
- Clarify and define testing requirements
- Prepare documentation for test campaigns
- Design and maintain testing setups
- Oversee and facilitate test execution with external partners, as well as conducting tests personally
- Analyze test outcomes and compile comprehensive reports
- Conduct Test Reviews (TRRs)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Over 5 years of experience in testing batteries or similar products within a technical context (e.g., Environmental Testing, Abuse Testing, Vibration, HIL Test Setups for electrical propulsion systems)
- Proficient in defining and constructing test systems and setups
- Technical expertise in Battery Development and/or Testing for High Current applications or analogous products
- Familiarity with HIL and software tools used in automotive or aviation testing (e.g., LabCar, dSpace, Simulink, CANoe, PCAN)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the aviation sector and knowledge of relevant regulations
- Understanding of automotive standards such as ECE R100, ISO 26262, or aviation standards like DO160G and DO311A
- High Voltage training 2E as per DGUV-I or equivalent
- Experience in V-Cycle and AGILE/SCRUM methodologies, with familiarity in tools like JIRA
- Experience with PLM tools such as Siemens Team Center or similar
- Experience in EASA-approved Design organizations [Part-21J] and knowledge of the aviation certification process is advantageous
