Access and Safety Officer

About the Role:
Malteser International is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Access and Safety Officer to join our team in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all Malteser International staff, assets, and programs within the country.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive security plans and risk management strategies to mitigate potential threats and ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular security assessments and risk analyses to identify potential security threats and develop mitigation strategies.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, military personnel, and local authorities, to ensure access to program areas and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian services.
- Develop and implement training programs for staff on safety and security protocols, including incident reporting and response procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Malteser International's safety and security policies and procedures, and provide regular updates to the Country Coordinator and Senior Management Team.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in a field related to humanitarian work or risk management, with a minimum of four years of experience in safety and security with INGOs in Nigeria.
- Strong assessment, evaluation, reporting, and analysis skills, with proven technical expertise in safety and security management.
- Technical competency and training experience in field-based communication systems, including radio, satellite, and internet systems.
- Existing networks with influential actors in the Northwest, Northeast, and South-South states of Nigeria, including security, political, social, cultural, and religious leaders.
- IT literate, with experience in incident reporting, incident mapping, intelligence collation and analysis functions, and compilation of security reports and assessments.
- Proven fluency in written and spoken English, with a proven understanding of local languages such as Hausa and Kanuri.
