Job SummaryThe Manager, Supply Chain & Procurement will be responsible for the cost-effective supply of all materials, equipment, and services, including vendor acquisition and qualification, vendor relations, purchasing, price negotiation, and analysis, as well as cost tracking and warehouse management.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement best-in-class procurement policies and procedures for direct and indirect services, materials, and capital procurement.
- Lead the enhancement and implementation of planning processes and procedures, as well as support the implementation of material planning and inventory management control strategies for the Munich site.
- Identify, select, and implement an inventory/warehouse management system for the Munich site.
- Establish and maintain efficient warehouse management processes.
- Lead material requirements planning for all GMP and Non-GMP materials, rescheduling orders and requirements by analyzing changes in forecasts, inventory levels, laboratory schedules, etc.
- Identify new supply sources, qualify vendors, and nurture strong vendor relationships through supplier development programs.
- Create RFPs, review bid proposals, coordinate bid review events with end-user groups, and negotiate final pricing and contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
- Negotiate purchase and payment terms on materials, equipment, and services and (re-)negotiate supply agreements with vendors to improve commercial conditions.
- Check requisitions, obtain quotes, measure, and report vendor performance.
- Resolve vendor pricing, quality, and delivery problems.
- Proactively coordinate with other areas of the business to ensure adequate inventory levels, timely deliveries (expediting/backorder management), and adherence to material procurement requirements.
- Coordinate internal projects with various user groups to achieve improvements in quality while lowering costs.
- Manage the laboratory management team and oversee their activities.
- Be responsible for the laboratory operations budget (procurement of materials and equipment maintenance).
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in Operations, Supply Chain, or comparable disciplines).
- 3+ years of experience in a related supply chain/planning/procurement or comparable discipline.
- Experience in laboratory material planning.
- GMP experience preferred.
- Experience with implementing an inventory/warehouse system preferred.
- Prior employment at a biotech or pharmaceutical company in a similar role preferred.
- Expertise in the use of MS Excel and other ERP applications.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP Certification an advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment.
- Driven and self-motivated with the ability to lead and facilitate priorities and activities across internal and external cross-functional teams.
- Agility to quickly adjust and navigate shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based on changing priorities.
- Experience with managing a small team preferred.
