We are in search of an Import Supply Specialist (Asia) with extensive experience in import logistics, particularly within Asian markets, to enhance our proactive Supply Planning team.
In this role, you will oversee the replenishment of warehouse inventory, engage with primary Metro Suppliers in Asia, formulate inventory replenishment strategies for our Own Brands, refine replenishment tools and methodologies, assess potential supply chain risks, monitor and optimize inventory levels, and collaborate with cross-functional teams and third-party service providers to align supply chain initiatives with business goals.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing the monthly replenishment cycle (planning and processing supply orders), including container logistics management, optimizing routes and resources to reduce costs and enhance efficiency. Tracking orders from Asia to Europe, ensuring timely arrivals and compliance with quality standards while coordinating deliveries with business priorities. Ensuring effective stock management and maximizing product availability through regular SKU turnover analysis, addressing excessive stock, and providing actionable recommendations. Creating reports to evaluate and enhance supplier performance and product availability. Collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders across the Supply Chain and related departments such as Warehousing, Demand Planning, Commercial, Marketing, and IT to streamline operations and boost overall supply chain efficiency. Overseeing processes related to container deliveries, including claims and customs clearance. Coordinating orders in alignment with opportunistic buying and selling strategies in collaboration with the Commercial department. Analyzing data and performance metrics to pinpoint areas for improvement and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Playing a crucial role in refining existing Supply Chain processes and taking ownership of projects aimed at optimizing systems and collaboration within the Metro Markets Supply Chain and with primary Metro Suppliers in Asia. Developing instructions and procedures for process standardization and optimization. This is a permanent full-time position based in our Dusseldorf office with the option for partial remote work.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related discipline. Proven expertise in supply chain management, particularly in coordinating orders from Asia to Europe. In-depth knowledge of container logistics and planning, with a strong ability to optimize routes and resources. Strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication and negotiation abilities, capable of fostering relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Familiarity with customs clearance processes, ideally related to importing goods from Asia into Europe. Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including ERP systems and logistics management platforms (advanced MS Excel is essential). Knowledge of Power BI and other technical skills is advantageous. Comfort in handling large volumes of data, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges. Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while effectively managing multiple priorities. High level of ownership and comprehensive thinking. Experience in establishing, monitoring, and reporting KPIs. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is essential.What We Offer:
