Export Control Legal Specialist

In a dynamic international environment, the Export Control Legal Counsel plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with applicable export control regulations. This involves negotiating agreements with business partners, handling legal aspects related to Export Control, supporting the implementation of internal processes, creating instructions, and establishing a comprehensive training program for various stakeholders.
The Legal Counsel - Export Control reports directly to the Head of Export Control and contributes to the enhancement of the Internal Compliance Program (ICP) of the Vitesco Technologies group from a legal perspective.
Your Key Responsibilities:- Continuously monitor and track new or changing export controls and sanction laws and regulations in various jurisdictions, including the EU, US, and others.
- Negotiate agreements with business partners and handle legal topics related to Export Control.
- Support the enhancement of our Internal Compliance Program.
- Manage regular risk monitoring of locations worldwide and implement countermeasures in collaboration with Export Control Coordinators and Specialists, including communication on a management level.
- Evaluate the potential impact of geopolitical changes on our businesses, communicate risks within our organization, and adapt internal processes accordingly.
- Support the Head of Export Control in optimizing internal strategies related to Export Control topics.
- Develop and implement policies, guidelines, and instructions.
- Provide legal guidance to the Export Control team, Coordinators, and business functions.
- Maintain regular communications with relevant Experts, Interfaces, and Coordinators within regions and cooperate with regional specialists.
- Define and implement a suitable and up-to-date training program for functions/employees in all locations with interfaces to Export Control matters and support Export Control Specialists in training realization.
- Support monitoring and integration of new legal entities and locations.
- Support export compliance investigations and implementation of required remedial action.
- Support compliance assessment and audits; assist in investigations and support implementation of corrective actions.
- Successful completion of a university degree in law.
- Several years of demonstrated international import/export and trade compliance experience.
- Legal expertise in EU and US Export Controls and Sanctions compliance and regulations is mandatory.
- Knowledge in Customs compliance and HS classification is desirable.
- Fluent English language skills, written and spoken; German is appreciated.
- Your integrity, communication skills, and intercultural knowledge enable you to foster collaboration and work with multiple departments to develop best-in-class trade compliance practices.
