Senior Research Scientist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Leader to join our team at Evonik. As a Senior Research Scientist, you will be responsible for managing a synthesis laboratory in the field of organic polymer chemistry, as well as the disciplinary and technical management and development of laboratory staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate national and international development projects in cross-functional and cross-site teams for the development of organic polymer systems.
- Develop new products with a focus on sustainable concepts and exploration of new polymerization techniques.
- Improve existing products in close cooperation with customers, internal/external partners and production.
- Closely collaborate with application engineering, production, product management, regulatory guidance, patent department, marketing and supply chain management.
- Conduct independent literature and patent analysis, and document development results.
- Present results at internal and external events on topics from one's own working environment.
- Participate in digitalization initiatives of the business unit.
Requirements
- Successfully completed university studies in chemistry and a doctorate in organic or macromolecular chemistry.
- Experience in polymer chemistry, ideally at least 2 years of professional experience in the relevant fields of activity.
- Detailed understanding of chemical structures, broad knowledge of chemical synthesis and knowledge of current analytical methods for structure elucidation.
- Experience in leading and motivating employees.
- Excellent written and spoken German and English skills.
- Convincing appearance with very good communication and cooperation skills.
- Customer orientation as well as independent, goal-oriented and reliable way of working, which is characterized by a strong sense of responsibility as well as creative and interdisciplinary thinking.
