About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief OS Architect to join our team at Westchester Veterinary Center and Cat Clinic. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for leading the development of our mobile applications and operating systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to the software engineering team, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Mobile Application Development: Lead the development of mobile applications using frameworks such as TypeScript, ReactNative, and Flutter, ensuring seamless integration with our core OS infrastructure.
  • Kernel Development: Analyze the mainline kernel source code and identify necessary modifications for compatibility with new hardware platforms, integrating board support packages (BSPs) for new SoCs.
  • Device Drivers: Design and develop efficient device drivers with a deep understanding of hardware interaction protocols, ensuring optimal resource management and compatibility with diverse hardware platforms.
  • Code Infrastructure: Maintain and manage software repositories, ensuring consistent synchronization and mirroring across multiple platforms.
Requirements
  • Extensive Experience: In software development, with a deep specialization in open-source operating systems and mobile technologies.
  • Leadership Excellence: Proven track record of leading and motivating large, cross-functional engineering teams, with demonstrated success in managing complex projects and delivering high-quality results.
  • System Architecture Expertise: Strong understanding of system architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices for both OS and mobile development.
  • Open-Source Mastery: In-depth experience with open-source development methodologies, including Git and Agile, and a comprehensive understanding of the open-source ecosystem.
  • Technical Roadmap Leadership: Proven ability to lead and influence technical roadmaps, secure buy-in from stakeholders at all levels, and align technical strategies with business objectives.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project-Specific Experience: Experience working on the development of OS's that utilize mainline Linux Kernel, with a deep understanding of its architecture, codebase, and community.
  • Additional Experience: Experience with Android Open Source Project and Tizen OS is beneficial.
  • Mobile Application Frameworks: Experience with frameworks relevant to mobile applications, such as ReactNative, Flutter, TypeScript, etc.
  • Porting Hardware: Proven track record of successfully porting a firmware to support a new hardware, including device drivers.
