Urban Futures Researcher

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified researcher to join our team at HafenCity Universität Hamburg (HCU) as an Associate Researcher in Urban Futures. The successful candidate will be part of a research training group that investigates the practices of built environment professionals in administration, planning, and civil society responding to the expected threats and risks to urban societies.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research on urban future-making and its implications for urban societies
- Investigate strategies and interventions related to the urban built environment in fields of action where claims for transformative changes are currently most articulated
- Collaborate with a team of scholars from sociology, political science, geography, urban studies, architecture, urban and transport planning, and civil engineering
- Contribute to academic research through conference participations and presentations
- Develop and implement a doctoral thesis in your respective discipline within three years and in correspondence to one or more of the above research areas
- PhD in a relevant field (sociology, political science, geography, urban studies, architecture, urban and transport planning, or civil engineering)
- Excellent command of English
- Experience in interdisciplinary urban and spatial research
- Experience in empirical social science research
- Ability to work in a team and collaborate with international researchers
