Position Overview

As a Financial Risk Analyst, your responsibilities will include:
  • conducting comprehensive evaluations of the Eurosystem's financial vulnerabilities, which encompasses the preparation of annual assessments regarding financial risks, reserves, and profitability forecasts, along with on-demand evaluations of financial risks stemming from monetary policy and investment activities;
  • assisting in the creation and upkeep of models and frameworks aimed at quantifying credit, market, liquidity, and climate-related risks, ensuring these models are aligned with the latest academic insights and industry best practices;
  • collaborating and engaging with staff from national central banks within the Eurosystem, as well as participating in committees and liaising with external partners;
  • representing the Division in both internal and external forums, working groups, and networks.
This role provides exceptional opportunities to engage in the analysis of central banks' balance sheets during a period of significant developments in this domain. You will join a diverse team committed to continuous innovation, aiming to positively influence the lives of European citizens.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Essential qualifications include:
  • a master's degree or equivalent in finance, economics, or a related discipline;
  • at least three years of professional experience in financial risk management, market operations, or financial stability;
  • proficiency in modeling and analyzing financial risks or conducting financial stress assessments;
  • a solid understanding of financial instruments, such as sovereign bonds, corporate bonds, covered bonds, and asset-backed securities;
  • experience in preparing reports, briefings, analytical documents, or policy recommendations;
  • programming skills in MATLAB or Python;
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) proficiency in at least one other official EU language.
You will work collaboratively with others, striving for team objectives and learning from diverse perspectives. You will communicate any necessary changes clearly, proposing alternative solutions. Your ability to analyze complex information effectively will enable you to evaluate various viewpoints and reach informed conclusions. You will be attuned to stakeholder needs and motivated to contribute to our team, developing and applying your skills to fulfill the objectives of this position.
