Your Role:
As a vital member of the Global Regulatory and Public Affairs team, you will engage in all facets of regulatory and public affairs matters for Lilium across Europe and internationally. This position is pivotal in navigating challenges, leveraging opportunities, and pioneering initiatives that have never been undertaken before.
The company is embarking on an innovative venture, developing an all-electric vertical take-off and landing jet, which promises superior capacity, minimal noise, and exceptional performance with zero operational emissions, thereby introducing electric Regional Air Mobility into urban areas.
Consequently, the establishment of new regulations will be essential, covering areas such as air operations, pilot licensing, airspace integration, and infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will include formulating and executing Lilium's regulatory and policy strategy, engaging with regulators, authorities, and policymakers in Europe and globally, and influencing the regulatory landscape for eVTOL jets and electric aviation to ensure that Lilium's interests are represented in emerging laws, policies, and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate across the organization to develop, refine, and implement Lilium's regulatory and policy strategy.
- Foster and maintain relationships with key officials from EASA and other national and international aviation regulators, as well as legislators and stakeholders to advocate for regulatory changes.
- Draft regulatory proposals and oversee rulemaking processes with various authorities.
- Conduct research, prepare for high-level meetings, and draft submissions and statements.
- Monitor political and regulatory developments in relevant jurisdictions.
- Represent Lilium's interests in pertinent trade associations and other advocacy groups.
Your Profile:
- Strong academic credentials in law, economics, politics, or a related field. Experience in aviation law is highly advantageous.
- An MBA or relevant business experience in strategy consulting or startups is a plus.
- Over 5 years of substantial experience in regulatory and/or public affairs, with exposure to high-level decision-makers.
- Significant experience in aviation or other passenger transportation sectors.
- A proven track record of effective regulatory adjustments.
- Experience collaborating with elected officials.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in German or other languages is beneficial.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Able to cultivate positive working relationships across various levels and functions.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving environment while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
- A self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to navigate ambiguity.
