We are in search of a skilled Lead Engineer in Power Electronics Development who possesses a robust expertise in power electronics and high-power converter functionality. In this role, you will spearhead the design and evaluation of Schneider Electric's innovative Smart Converter technologies, focusing on Direct-Connected-Modular-Medium-Voltage-Converter and cutting-edge power electronics solutions.
Your Responsibilities:
- Design, development, and evaluation of power electronic converter modules (converter submodules) tailored for medium-voltage applications.
- Defining key power electronic components and conducting datasheet assessments of components, taking into account lead time, availability, pricing, alternative sourcing, and qualification.
- Contributing to loss assessment and thermal modeling for converter submodules, along with establishing requirements for converter cooling systems.
- Designing and maintaining back-to-back testing setups to validate power converter technology under realistic operational conditions.
- Preparing the testing specifications for back-to-back testing setups.
- Conducting laboratory tests on power converter submodules, including switching tests and thermal evaluations.
- Assisting the converter control algorithm development team (models based on MATLAB/Simulink) with innovative solutions.
- Supporting the development team with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing specifications.
- Documenting design reports and maintaining technical databases/repositories.

- A degree in Electrical Engineering (MSc or PhD preferred).
- Several years of experience in power converter design, testing, manufacturing, and addressing field issues.
- Simulation expertise in power converters and subsystems, with in-depth knowledge of simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, etc.
- Understanding of medium voltage design and control challenges.
- Experience in architectural option analysis, trade-offs, and selection, including power topology.
- Ability to communicate results clearly and concisely, including technical report writing.
- Optional:
- Experience with high power converters (1 MW+).
- Strong knowledge of Multilevel Converters.
- Capability to perform FMECA analysis.
- Familiarity with system availability and MTBF prediction.
