Job Title: BCI-Gym: Development of Virtual Environments for Brain-Computer Interface Users Training

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled developer to join our team at the Technical University of Munich and contribute to the development of virtual environments for brain-computer interface (BCI) users. The successful candidate will work alongside experts in neuroscience, machine learning, and robotics to create immersive and realistic virtual environments that enhance the decoding models for iBCI participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create virtual lab environments with realistic assets, including human hand and arm models, robotic arm and gripper models, and tables with simple objects that can be manipulated in real-time.
  • Implement specific experiments within the environment, such as center-out tasks and follow position tasks.
  • Develop a communication framework using Redis to read and write data.
  • Control the virtual human and robot arm within the environment.
  • Deliver high-quality documentation.

Requirements:

  • Direct experience with Unreal Engine or Unity-based virtual environment development.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or C/C++.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with real-time communication.
  • Experience with user interface design.
  • Experience with Blender or other 3D asset creation.

Position: The current position is targeted as HiWi (paid position).
