As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure for Data Centers (DC) in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud regions.
Key Responsibilities- Safety
Ensure the highest safety standards are maintained and promote a world-class safety culture. Collaborate with other teams to remediate safety risks and own safety initiatives to foster a strong safety culture.
Engineering & Facility Operations and MaintenanceOperate and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS's), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS's), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), and Transformers.
- Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA's)
- Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.)
- Supervise contractor or Engineering Operations Technicians to ensure proper operation and maintenance of all facility equipment
- Drive continuous improvement efforts on infrastructure through standardization of procedures and policies, while delivering performance against agreed metrics
- Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and assist in recruiting efforts
- Lead the root cause analysis for operational issues, and conduct meetings with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to finalize mitigation strategies
Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required (weight limits in accordance with regulations)
Shift Work and On-Call RotationAbility to work shifts (morning, late and night) and participate in on-call rotation for off-duty emergency calls
Requirements- Completed apprenticeship as an Electronics Technician/Electrician or equivalent recognized training
- Very good command of English
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Excel, Word) and web-based operational tools
- Proficient with Change Management Systems (CMS) and Ticket Systems
- Broad operational knowledge and experience with and familiarity with electrical and mechanical equipment
- Extensive Data Center engineering experience or Job-related experience
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline
- Familiar with Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) control systems and data collection/trending
- Highly proficient in written and spoken English
- Very good command of German
