Position Overview
The Universität Konstanz invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of History of Knowledge and History of Science. This full-time position is funded under the collective agreement E 13 TV-L and is set for a duration of 24 months.
Departmental Affiliation
This role is associated with the Chair of American Studies and the Chair of the History of Knowledge, both of which are integral to the Department of Literature, Art and Media Studies and the History Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute specialized knowledge on methodologies related to the history of knowledge and science for the ERC project focused on environmental aesthetics.
- Develop an independent research initiative centered on environmental knowledge in early 20th-century North America, exploring themes such as the rise of ecology and automobile-related fieldwork.
- Co-organize a conference dedicated to environmental knowledge.
- Publish findings in relevant academic forums.
- Engage in minor administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A strong doctoral dissertation emphasizing the history of knowledge or science.
- A keen interest in the environmental humanities alongside North American historical contexts.
- The ability to participate in monthly in-person meetings.
