IT Project Management Specialist

The IT Cost Controlling Team at ABOUT YOU Tech is focused on enhancing our IT expenditure efficiency. This position entails overseeing technical projects and collaborating with organizational leadership and technical heads to steer IT investment strategies, negotiate software contracts, and pinpoint opportunities for cost savings.

As a Project Manager – IT Buyer, you will manage a diverse range of cost-centric IT initiatives, particularly concerning AWS and other major IT investments. This role is pivotal in directing cost-reduction projects and processes, with a strong emphasis on managing AWS cost structures and savings potential. You will engage closely with C-Level executives and the management team, overseeing the financial aspects of our cloud infrastructure, negotiating with software providers, and refining IT project management methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead various technology projects, spanning from 2 weeks to 6 months, concentrating on cost-saving measures in IT, vendor negotiations, and contract oversight.
  • Collaborate with IT project managers, financial controllers, and technical leads to enhance the IT cost framework.
  • Manage comprehensive contract processes, including planning, negotiation, monitoring, invoice verification, and conducting tenders to secure optimal price/value arrangements.
  • Prepare and track cost reports, such as monthly financial summaries and KPI reports, in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Strategically plan the IT budget across multiple teams for IT vendors and hosting expenses.
  • Gain insights into a wide array of projects, processes, tools, and advanced technologies (e.g., AWS, Datadog) while collaborating with various teams to implement FinOps principles.
  • Regularly communicate, align, and report project statuses with leads, upper management, and the Tech team.
  • Identify challenges and develop effective, practical solutions to overcome obstacles.
  • Evaluate and select new software while negotiating with vendors.

Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in agile IT project management.
  • Familiarity with cloud services, particularly AWS, ensuring optimal cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • A solid financial background, including experience in managing and operating cost centers.
  • Proficient in negotiating with software vendors to secure favorable terms and pricing.
  • Experienced in contract management from negotiation through execution and oversight.
  • A proven history of managing IT projects utilizing agile methodologies.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Proactive, hands-on, and capable of creatively solving problems.
