About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Robotics Safety Specialist to join our team at FRANKA ROBOTICS GmbH. As a key member of our functional safety team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our robotic systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to Safety Assessments: Collaborate with our development teams to understand and analyze certification requirements for our robotic systems.
  • Develop Safety Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for safety-related projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Design Safety Concepts: Develop safety concepts, conduct risk assessments, and write requirements for all system levels.
  • Support Architecture Development: Assist in the specification and documentation of architecture at system, hardware, and software levels.
  • Develop Safety Processes: Support the development of processes that comply with relevant functional safety norms.
  • Interact with External Bodies: Collaborate with external notified bodies, such as TÜV, to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Support Safety Testing: Assist in the development, verification, and testing of safety-relevant functions.
  • Coordinate Assessments: Coordinate assessments from external certification authorities.
  • Contribute to Change Management: Participate in internal change and configuration management processes.
  • Communicate Across Teams: Facilitate communication and coordination across system, software, and hardware teams.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: At least three years of experience with functional safety, preferably in industrial robotics.
  • Knowledge: Sound knowledge of safety standards for machines, such as ISO 10218, ISO 13849, and ISO/TS, as well as the machinery directive.
  • Skills: Experience with functional safety standards, tool qualification, testing, and the creation and review of safety-relevant system and software architectures.
  • Analysis Skills: Experience in safety analysis of the system, software, and hardware design, including FMEA/FMEDA and PFH calculation.
  • Communication Skills: Fluent English skills, with German language skills a plus.
Desirable Skills
  • Functional Safety Management: Experience in functional safety management.
  • Unit Testing Frameworks: Experience with unit testing frameworks, such as LDRA or Unity.
  • Coding Guidelines: Familiarity with common coding guidelines, such as MISRA.
  • Communication Protocols: Knowledge of communication protocols, such as FSoE, CAN, or Ethercat.
