THE POSITION
Postdoctoral | Research Scientist (W-0023 | all genders)
The ICON-RedSeaClimate project is a collaboration of MPI-M with the Red Sea Modelling and Prediction Group at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In this project we study the climate of the Arabian Peninsula utilizing a zooming configuration of the ICON model. Specific emphasis is placed on understanding the role of submesoscale eddies in the air-sea interaction within the Red Sea.
YOUR PROFILE
- PhD degree in oceanography, meteorology, physics, mathematics, or other related fields
- In-depth knowledge of numerical ocean modelling and computational climate science
- Experience in supercomputer simulations of state-of-the-art circulation models
- Proficiency in Fortran, UNIX/Linux, Python, parallel programming, visualization, and evaluation of simulation data
- Demonstrated experience in executing research projects and publishing results
- Good communication skills, ability to work autonomously and self-responsible

EMPLOYEEMENT CONDITIONS
