Research Scientist (f/m/d)
Biophysics (Protein Production & bio-NMR)
Full-time, temporary (12 months)
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Design approaches to obtain and characterize high-quality proteins for different areas of research and development
- Express high levels of recombinant proteins in bacterial and eukaryotic systems, with a specific emphasis on isotope-labelled proteins
- Perform multi-step protein purifications in medium scale with continuous critical analysis of the procedure
- Implement methods for project advancement and overcome issues when working with challenging protein targets
- Organize and acquire materials required for (isotope-labelled) protein purification
- Document, summarize, interpret, troubleshoot and present protein expression and purification results
Your Ideal Qualification:
- You recently finished your PhD in biological sciences, biochemistry or a related scientific area. Alternatively, you hold a master’s degree in one of those areas and have more than 5 years hands-on experience with protein purification in the biotechnology industry and customer interaction experience
- You already worked on recombinant protein expression in multiple hosts, ideally bacterial, insect and yeast systems. Experience with isotope labelling would be beneficial
- You have several years of proven experience with protein purification using chromatography systems and analysis using standard techniques
- A working knowledge of bio-NMR spectroscopy is desirable
- Former experience in performing biophysical assays (e.g. DSF, SPR, MST or NMR), assay development and assay validation is a plus
- Self-starting personality with high levels of autonomy, enthusiasm and commitment
- Ability to independently plan, manage and execute several projects at any given time and with the resources given
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to interact efficiently in a cross-functional team
- Fluency in written and spoken English, German is advantageous
