Planegg, Deutschland Ethris GmbH Vollzeit

**Our mission**:
At Ethris, we are working at the forefront of medical innovation and technology. To us, this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance, working on rethinking human therapeutics. We strive towards developing the next generation of mRNA therapeutics and vaccines for respiratory diseases. We're a dedicated and skilled team of around 50 with different cultural backgrounds, all following the goal of revolutionizing medicine and bringing ground-breaking new therapies to patients worldwide in due time. With our truly innovative, self-developed and IP-protected suite of platforms for lipidoid nanoparticle delivery, mRNA design and optimization, mRNA manufacturing and drug product stabilization at room-temperature, we are uniquely positioned to achieve our ambitious goals.

**Our offer**

We are offering the opportunity to conduct and write your Master thesis with us.

**Have you ever heard about PCD?**
Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) is a rare disease that arises from structural defects or the absence of the cilia lining our respiratory tract. With the cilia unable to function, mucus loaded with trapped microbes, dust, and other debris cannot be cleared from the airways efficiently and can often lead to permanent lung damage. With our SNIM®RNA technology we can deliver a corrected mRNA that is designed to produce ciliary proteins in the respiratory tract thereby reconstituting cilia function.

**Your tasks**:

- To investigate the mechanisms of PCD using in vitro culturing techniques, by mainly working with primary epithelial cells
- To perform cell culture techniques including electroporation, flow-cytometry, microscopy and immunohistochemistry staining techniques (IF and IHC stainings)
- To conduct analysis of cillary function such as Ciliary beating frequency and active area measurements
- To design the experiments with the help of a direct supervisor and conduct the experiments independently
- To read and interpret the literature related to the project and actively contribute scientifically to the project
- To carefully document the experimental details

**Your profile**:

- Having an interest in the area of chronic lung diseases and disease related mechanisms
- Basic knowledge of lung biology
- Understanding of molecular biologic techniques of gene editing (e.g. CRISPR/Cas9)
- Basic experience or theoretic knowledge in different cell culture techniques e.g., primary cells of different origin, submerse culture, air-liquid interface (ALI) culture, transduction/transfection of cells (viral vectors and/or mRNA based)
- Ability to work independently as well as in matrix teams
- Motivation to learn new techniques and perform experiments independently
- Good skills in Office-, statistic
- and image software
- Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal communication and organizational skills
- Fluency in verbal and written English required
