**Your tasks & responsibilities**

Electrochaea is seeking an innovative and driven scientist or engineer with passion for developing groundbreaking ideas that fuel global progress and prosperity. As part of the technical team, you will participate in a dynamic, international, and multidisciplinary team, working with a new technology with international appeal. You will work alongside scientists and engineers developing an microbial electrolysis cell, a bioelectrochemical devices that uses water, carbon dioxide, and renewable electrical energy to produce renewable natural gas.

**Core duties of this position include**:

- Planning of the experiments
- Hands on laboratory work, building experimental setups and performing experiments
- Preparation of the presentations, showcasing the results to the colleagues
- Discussing the results and the experimental design with the rest of the microbial electrolysis cell team
- Writing clear reports about the presented experiments where the core results are presented and discussed

**Your profile**

The ideal applicant has the following qualifications and capabilities:

- University degree (or about to receive one) in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics, or related discipline
- Understanding of chemical and physical processes, with an interest in biotechnology and electrochemistry
- Strong ability to analyze technical problems in a solution-oriented manner
- Previous laboratory experience is required (shorter internships at the university or in industry)
- Experience in one or more of the following fields is a strong plus: electrochemistry, fermentation, microbiology, material chemistry, reactor development, catalysis, and gas analysis.
- Written and verbal fluency in English required for scientific and business communications
- Readiness to work in cross-disciplinary, international and matrix managed teams

**Our proposal**:

- Internship in the duration of 6 or 12 months, ideally with the starting date in January
