With our research in the divisions of climate-neutral energy systems, resource-efficient processes and circular products, we make concrete contributions to achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. Our employees conduct research in the fields of energy, environment, safety, health, communication and mobility.

The combination of different (energy) systems is becoming more complex due to integrated energy. At the same time optimization is becoming more relevant as a method for designing and planning the operation of systems with regard to sustainability. The required models are thus potentially becoming larger and more complex, which makes efficient solution strategies necessary. This is where your master thesis begins.

**What you will do**
- Research on and evaluation of distributed optimization solution strategies
- Induction in the Python-based modeling framework »oemof-solph«
- Implementation of a solution strategy of distributed optimization of energy system models from oemof-solph

**What you bring to the table**
- Studies in the field of mathematics, computer science or engineering with a focus on energy technology
- First programming experience, ideally with Python
- Interest and pleasure in (mixed integer) modeling and optimization, previous experience with oemof-solph is advantageous
- Independent way of working
