vor 6 Monaten
Job Id: 8712(*gn=gender neutral)
**The Institute of Epidemiology and Social Medicine** at the University of Münster is offering a position at the earliest opportunity, limited to 3 years with the option of extension.
**Full-time**
**Salary according to TV-L E13**
We are seeking a (bio-)statistician/mathematician/bioinformatician to work in multinational, large-scale “-omics” projects aiming to identify molecular biomarkers predicting risk for brain diseases (such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). To this end, you will analyze genome (Illumina’s GSA array), genome-wide methylome (Illumina’s EPIC array), proteome (SomaScan), and transcriptome (RNA-Seq) data that have all been generated in the same ~6,000 individuals of the European Prospective Investigation on Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) Study. You will implement and develop state-of-the-art scientific and statistical analysis techniques, in particular those based on machine learning, to develop integrated, multi-omics disease
prediction and classification scores, and make use of the unique data resources available to our institute.
**What we offer**:
- A dynamic work environment with flexible working hours in which you may work in a self-dependent, autonomous way
- Possibility to develop and pursue your own scientific ideas
- A motivated multidisciplinary international team that helps and supports you in your tasks
- The possibility to obtain a Ph.D. (i.e., Dr. rer. nat. or Dr. rer. medic.) degree or habilitation
- Support for your academic career
**Your profile**:
- Master’s degree (or higher) in (bio-)statistics, mathematics, bioinformatics, or degree in related fields
- Proficiency in R
- Experience working within a UNIX/Linux environment
- Strong background in bioinformatics and biostatistics, including analysis of high-throughput data in at least one omics area (genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, or proteomics)
- Skills in at least one area of expertise of statistical methodology including survival analysis, statistical genetics, and/or machine learning
- Strong writing and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and team skills and fluency in both spoken and written English
If you have any questions about the position, please contact **Prof. Dr. Christina Lill**, T +49 (0)251 83-57101.
**The University Hospital of Münster **is one of the leading hospitals in Germany. Such a position cannot be achieved by size and medical successes alone. The individual commitment counts above all. We need your commitment so that even with little things we can achieve great things for our patients. There are many possibilities open for you so that you may develop with them.
- Due to legal requirements working with us is only permitted with complete vaccination against measles.
At the UKM we have one common goal: We help people get healthy again and stay healthy - giving modern highly advanced medical technologies a human face.
- Are you interested?
- And that is not enough?
- Be excited about all our advantages as an employee.
