Head of Corporate Sustainability

**TASKS** 1. Transition to net zero - deliver the Group’s approach to sustainability in Germany - 60%**
- Support all key aspects of the global sustainability Target Operating Model (TOM) to ensure commitment and consistent delivery
- Support all key aspects of the ECB remediation plan in close coordination with the dedicated governance
- Support Global Businesses (GBs) and Global Functions (GFs) to fulfil our $750bn - $1tn commitment
- Participate & vote in the different Sustainable Finance Forum (SFF) to ensure adherence to market standards
- Ensure policies critical to net zero are well implemented (e.g. energy policy, coal policy, deforestation policy, etc.)
- Support Risk and the GBs to implement the sustainability risk management framework and help manage greenwashing risks
- Assist DBS in the delivery of Group's Net Zero target
**2. Thought Leadership: strengthen capacity and capability - 15%**
- Connect and represent HSBC externally to drive reputation, understand new global and regional trends and developments in the climate transition, ensure connectivity between global, regional and country presence, engage at climate focused conventions and events
- Participate in working groups on EU-Action Plan on Sustainable Finance (EBF; German Banking Federation)
- Support the upskilling of GBs so that frontlines teams are confident to have client conversations on ESG and are able to manage the transition plans assessment process
- Drive awareness and involvement of local HSBC colleagues in the Group’s sustainability activities
- Provide leadership and guidance to top management
- Build close and trusted working relationships with the GBs and GFs
**3. Reporting & Disclosures - 15%**
- Contribute to the ESG disclosure in HBCE URD and other ESG regulatory reporting requirements which are applicable at a country level
**4. Philanthropy - 10%**
- Support the implementation of the Philanthropy Review
- Develop new community investment partnerships
- Manage community investment budget, ensure all risks and controls are in place
- Ensure accurate management information (MI) is gathered on community investment projects and programmes to measure, report and track outcomes and impacts
- Develop initiatives to encourage volunteering and staff engagement activities as appropriate
- Oversee adherence to the Corporate Sustainability Manual across Germany, including Basic Review, Sanctions Screening, AB&C and Conflicts of Interest
**REQUIREMENTS**
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Broad experience of Sustainability and Finance
- Be required to be an “integrator” - connecting teams (e.g. in region and with Group) and considering needs of both market and region as a whole
- Ability to multi-task, manage ambiguity and deal with issues that have material impact
- Experience of working and partnering with community centered organizations;
- Proven track record of leading high performing teams; getting initiatives done and managing operations within budget and headcount target
- Be empowered and have authority to support leadership of Businesses and Functions inmarket and region
- Effectively partner with HBCE and Europe CS team to fulfil Group Strategic ambition
- Enable an effective work environment with the different stakeholders
- Contribute to develop a learning culture within the bank and encourage colleagues to sharpen knowledge
- Fluent in German and English
