Research Assistant (M/F/x)
fulltime

to work for the Research Group Neural Circuits, Consciousness, and Cognition (NCC) headed by Prof. Lucia Melloni, PhD. The overall goal of the Research Group is to accelerate our understanding of how we see (perception), why some experience feels the way it does (consciousness) and how those experiences get imprinted on our brain (learning and memory)—as well as the interplay between these processes. **Your responsibilities**:

- Organization of existing scientific projects under the supervision of Lucia Melloni
- Collaborate and support the research team in preparing grant proposals, managing budgets, and reporting progress to stakeholders
- Preparing, conducting, and evaluating studies within the Research Group
- Scheduling and staffing of trials and recruitment of study participants
- Training and supervising new student assistants and junior researchers
- Guidance of study participants and preparation of study execution
- Conducting the study, monitoring measuring instruments, and testing procedures
- Data backup, documentation, and checking the quality of collected measurement data
- Supporting the collection, analysis and presentation of research data
- Maintenance and calibration of measuring instruments, planning repairs and checking the correct functioning of all instruments
- Creating documentation, guidelines, and manuals for project implementation within the research group
- Checking research protocols for completeness and ethical standards, forwarding, and follow-up

**What we require from you**:

- Bachelor degree in a relevant field (preferably Neuroscience, Psychology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field)
- Good command of English and German (English is the primary language of the group, and therefore fluency in English is required)
- Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
- Familiarity with programming languages such as R, Matlab, Python, or other programming languages
- Proficiency with office programs (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Commitment to high ethical standards and maintaining the confidentiality of research data
- Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and motivate team members
- Previous experience conducting research in psychology or cognitive neuroscience is highly desired

The earliest start date of this fulltime position will be in February, 2024. The position is limited to two years. The selection process will continue until the position is filled. Salary is paid in accordance with the collective agreement for the public sector (TVöD Bund), commensurate with the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience. The salary scale will be E9.
