Doctoral Researcher (PhD-position)

in the field of Statistical Genetics. The position is offered for a period of 3 years. The starting date is 01.04.2024. The position is full-time with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13. The position funded by the DFG project "Estimation of polygenic risk scores through boosting and distributional regression for the identification of possible gene-environment interactions".

**Tasks**:

- statistical analyses of large-scale epidemiological biobanks
- implementation of bioinformatics pipelines to process omics data on High Performance Computing cluster
- cooperative work in a multidisciplinary and international research environment
- publishing research findings in international scientific journals and at international conferences

The position is limited to a time period deemed adequate for the completion of a doctoral degree. As part of the assigned duties, there will be ample opportunity to conduct the independent scientific research necessary for the completion of a doctorate. The limitation complies to - 2, 1 WissZeitVG.

**Profile**:

- MSc-degree in quantitative science (Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics etc.) or biomedical fields (e.g. Biology, Pharmacy) with interest in computational data-analysis
- strong programming knowledge in R and/or python
- fluency in English (both written and spoken)
- familiarity with bash scripting and use of HPC is advantageous
- experience with molecular and/or epidemiological data analysis is a plus

The willingness to pursue academic qualification through a doctoral thesis within the scope of the research project is expected.
