Technician for Field Work Supporting Sampling

The work is carried out as part of a multidisciplinary, federally funded, project, HaffStör, which is assessing improved methods of production of fish for recovery measures and resulting conflicts between protected species with a focus on Baltic sturgeons in the Lower Oder and Szczecin Lagoon area. The project aims at the identification of means to improve the rearing practice to render fish fit for survival after release and the assessment of their behavior through telemetry and monitoring measures.

**Your tasks**:

- To support the rearing trials for early life stages of sturgeons under different rearing conditions in commercial settings
- Support the assessment of effects of environmental impacts upon fitness in behavioral and physiological studies
- Participate in tagging experiments
- Support a monitoring program to assess the impact of the releases and to help discriminate between the impact between the origin of the fish
- Collaborate with regional fisheries in collecting catch reports
- Close collaboration with other working groups in the project

**Your profile**:

- Work experience (apprenticeship) in fisheries, Bachelor degree in biology, fisheries sciences, or a related field with focus on fish biology or aquatic ecology, or equivalent education is required
- Practical experience with fish rearing, field work and in experimentation is required
- Driving license, boating license are required
- The will and ability to travel for the field work are essential
- Experience in collaboration with practitioners is advantageous
- Communication skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and
- Excellent German and good English skills are requried, Polish language skills are advantageous
