**Our Profile**:
The Institute of Machine Elements and System Engineering researches the fundamental structural and tribological behaviour of machine elements and represents them in experimentally validated model descriptions. These model descriptions are used to analyse and design the functional, loss and noise behaviour of entire technical systems with a focus on drive technology. The developed models are also used to research and develop methods of Model Based Systems Engineering as a central element of future inductive product development processes. The tribology group at MSE studies the interactions between the stressed surfaces of machine components and lubricants. The focus is on fundamental research on the mechanisms, such as friction and wear, as well as the experimental and simulative methods to elucidate the behaviour of lubricants and components under tribological stress. Further research focuses are the detection and classification of wear-critical operating conditions and the prediction of degradation processes.

**Your Profile**:

- Independent and reliable way of working
- Interest in tribological issues and test bench work
- Strong hands-on mentality
- Previous knowledge in MATLAB desirable, but not mandatory
- Good English skills
- Currently enrolled at a university or university of applied sciences

**Your Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Independent performance of tests on a two-disc tribometer
- Preparation of test data
- Support in the evaluation of test results
- Participation in current research projects

**What We Offer**:
The position is to be filled by 3/15/2023 and offered for a fixed term of initially 3 months.
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 8-10 hours.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 12,00 € per hour.
