Could you be the full-time **Technical Author **specializing in** Product Data Management **in **Mannheim** we’re looking for?
**Your future role**
You’ll play a crucial role in documenting and maintaining product data for our locomotives, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to industry standards.
Day-to-day, you’ll take care of the creation, maintenance and compilation of production and maintenance documents for current and future projects in the field of locomotive development. This means close cooperation and coordination with the areas of electrical and mechanical installation planning, system engineering as well as the purchasing and service organization.
You will support the Documentation and Training department creating new components for future projects in our Product Data Management system and in other databases and tools.
We’ll look to you for:
- Create, edit, and maintain technical documents, manuals, and specifications related to locomotive projects
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather technical information and maintain up-to-date documentation
- Maintain the metadata of the components and systems used
- Manage the documentation supplied by our suppliers with their components
- Create parts lists for production and put together documentation deliveries for customers and service partners
- Utilize your previous experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems to organize, update, and control product data efficiently
- Introduce and use a new generation of programs and tools and associated processes

- Proven experience in Technical Authoring, particularly in the context of Product Data Management (PDM) systems, ideally within the rail industry
- A technical background or a degree in engineering, rail technology, or a related field
- Good knowledge of the MS Office environment as well as working with technical drawings from your own and third-party sources
- Knowledge of development, manufacturing and maintenance processes of a company in the railway industry or a comparable area of transport or plant engineering
- Ideally at least 5 years of experience in a comparable position
- Willingness for cross-location and cross-country communication and teamwork, as well as the ability to solve problems independently
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality technical documentation
- Ability to work independently and within a team, managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines
- Fluency in German and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages
