Plant Controller Munich (M/F/d)

Position Summary

Reporting to the CP Global Operations Controller, in cooperation with the local Accounting team, the Plant Controller is responsible for planning, control and accurate recording of the entity's production cost, inventory accounts, investments, and research & development expenses. He/she will explain key deviations versus targeted results to Manufacturing Management and support decision making. Representing the direct connections between Finance and Site Functions, he/she is a vital member of the CP Finance team, providing financial direction to the plant and recommendations to improve site performance.

This position is an onsite role (based in Munich) working closely with various areas, including the Manufacturing Leadership Team, R&D Leadership Team, FP&A, Accounting, IT, and Internal Audit. The position will also interact with the Company's external auditors.

General Responsibilities
- Ensure the general ledger is always an accurate reflection of the legal entity's financial position in respect of the cost of sales, inventory, and R&D expenses, in compliance with Finance Policy
- Lead the annual standard costing process, ensuring the integrity of the standard costs
- Develop Manufacturing annual budget as well as monthly forecasting and reporting
- Analyze and explain monthly manufacturing variances and operating expenses deviations versus plans, supporting and developing corrective actions if appropriate
- Liaise with internal customers to improve operational efficiency and reflect future business requirements
- Serve as the point of contact for all plant SOX activities and narratives related to cost accounting and R&D expenses and support both internal and external auditors as requested during their audit
- Provide financial business support to the Manufacturing and R&D functions and in particular the Plant Manager and Project Managers to maintain a highly efficient and effective manufacturing operation; help identify and support the implementation of production cost reductions

Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (i.e., Finance, Economics, Accounting, etc.), CPA preferred
- Several years’ experience as Industrial Controller in structured companies
- Experience in Cost Accounting and Standard Product Costing, particularly BOM and production cycles evaluation in discrete manufacturing using ERP or similar system is mandatory
- Sound knowledge of US GAAP, particularly in relation to inventory
- German and English excellent spoken and written
- Ability to analyze, summarize and succinctly communicate financial issues
- A collaborative individual able to build solid relationships with multiple and diverse stakeholders
- Ability to effectively present information and communicate with Senior Management in a quick and effective manner
- Very organized with excellent problem-solving skills
- Very good knowledge of ERP Costing and Accounting Systems, in particular SAP (FI/CO/PP, BI/BW)
