**The Position**:
Large-scale experimentation and exploitation of the resulting “big data” with computational approaches are shaping the future drug discovery. At Boehringer Ingelheim, our High Throughput Biology (HTB) group is leading the way by providing miniaturized and automatable compound screening and profiling assays to pre-clinical research programs across all therapeutic areas. We are looking for a people-, science-, and technology leader, that contributes to the evolution of our HTB group and to BI’s innovative project portfolio.

***Tasks & responsibilities**:

- Your key task / responsibility will be to lead a sub-team integrating several laboratories of the High Throughput Biology (HTB) group and to be accountable for the delivery of high-quality contributions by this sub-team to BI’s drug discovery pipeline.
- In addition, you will facilitate the individual growth of your team members and promote the continuous evolution of selected HTB sciences and technologies to ensure efficient provision of high-quality portfolio assets to specific BI’s Therapeutic Areas (TAs).
- Moreover, together with the HTB leadership team, you will coordinate the strategic planning and efficient use of resources for the execution of standardized and harmonized screening and profiling processes, aiming to maximize synergies and share good practices across laboratories and technology platforms.
- Furthermore, you will contribute to early portfolio strategic decisions as member of exploratory portfolio steering committees, thereby increasing the value of the project pipeline.
- Regarding project involvement, you will have the opportunity to act as HTB member in international project teams, and in this role, you will draft and execute smart screening and profiling strategies (in-house or externally) aligned with stakeholders from different research functions.
- Your profile will be rounded by the ability to establish and maintain strong interfaces to all relevant global research functions, to international and cross-functional teams, external collaborators and CROs as well as to academic partners.

***Requirements**:

- PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology or related in vitro pharmacology disciplines, with proven hands-on experience in one or more relevant areas such as enzymology, biophysics, molecular
- and cellular pharmacology
- Long-standing professional practice in the pharmaceutical / life sciences industries with several years of leadership experience in line
- or matrix functions
- In-depth knowledge of high throughput experimentation principles technologies, and strategies
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and (written and oral) communication skills
- Oral and written command of the English language with German knowledge being an asset
