**Genomic Data Scientist (M/F/d)**
Biomedical Data Science is a group within Pharmaceuticals R&D at Bayer. Its objective is to deliver novel insights on therapeutic mechanisms and patient populations through analysis of large, complex datasets, in collaboration with internal and external partners, including world leading institutions like the BROAD institute.
**YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Be responsible for the design and conduct of complex analyses to identify novel drug targets, biomarkers and other insights relevant for the translation of research projects into clinical development stages; this will cover all indication areas of Bayer pharmaceuticals, with a focus on kidney diseases and cardiomyopathies
- Use genome-wide association studies and rare disease genetics to systematically identify novel targets and elucidate target mechanisms
- Analyze a wide variety of datasets, which will include (but will not be limited to) large scale human genetic, transcriptomics, metabolomics and proteomics data
- Be responsible for the identification of appropriate data sources and datasets, including for example through collaboration with external institutions
- Liaise and interface with researchers from diverse backgrounds (biology, medicine, pharmacology, chemistry) in order to identify critical points in drug discovery projects, and provide appropriate solutions for such critical points through analyses of available complex datasets
**WHO YOU ARE**
- First experience in the analysis of omics data and human genetics
- Strong IT, programming and analysis skills (e.g. R, Python, bioinformatics software)
- High self-motivation and strive for scientific excellence as well as strong analytical thinking and scientific rigor
- Ability to solve problems and to structure and simplify complex tasks as well as to present complex issues clearly and convincingly to project teams
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
**This is a fixed-term contract for one year.**
