We seek to fill the following position:
**Student Research Assistant - Climate Policy (f/m/div)**

part-time (15 hours per week).

The contract shall commence as of 01 January 2023 and is limited until 31 May 2023.

In the past decade, dedicated institutional mechanisms for climate governance have emerged in several countries. This includes framework climate legislation, like the United Kingdom’s 2008 Climate Change Act and Germany’s 2019 Klimaschutzgesetz, climate advisory bodies like Sweden’s Climate Policy Council and Ireland’s Climate Change Advisory Council, and specific climate policy planning processes, like California’s Scoping Plan.

We are conducting a research project to analyse variation in these climate institutions in a sample of four jurisdictions. As part of our project, we will develop a conceptual framework to classify climate institutions and then test and refine our framework through analysis of our sample. Our analysis will draw on expert interviews, a review of the available literature, structured analysis of publicly available documents on governance in each country, and an expert workshop.

Your tasks:

- Work closely with the rest of the research team to develop a conceptual framework to classify climate institutions
- Data analysis, including qualitative coding of documents and interview transcripts
- Assisting with conducting a literature review on climate institutions and approaches to climate governance in a range of countries
- Assisting with arranging and conducting interviews
- Assisting with arranging and running an expert workshop
- Assisting with developing early results and a summary report

Your profile:

- Completed Bachelor’s degree
- Currently enrolled in a Master-level programme at a German university in a relevant field (e.g. political science, economics, environmental science)
- Existing knowledge of climate politics and policy
- Interest in research and methodological approaches
- Excellent written and spoken English. Additional language skills in any European language are an advantage
