**Scientific environment**

The professorship will be assigned to the TUM School of Life Sciences, Department Life Science Systems. The professorship will be based at the TUM Limnological Research Station in Iffeldorf as part of the TUM School of Life Sciences in Freising-Weihenstephan.

**Responsibilities**

The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Global Change Limnology to develop a systems level understanding of functional processes in lake ecosystems in light of global change. Research topics can include development and use of ecological and modelling techniques to study population dynamics and functional relationships in lake systems, or eco-evolutionary processes of adaptation to global change. The field station is particularly suited for empirical research using mesocosms, the field lab “Osterseen” and lakes in the Alpine region. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs, specifically courses in lake limnology, aquatic botany and microbiology.

**Qualifications**

A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad and full commitment to do interdisciplinary research are expected.
