The National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) in Heidelberg is a joint institution of the German Cancer Research Center, Heidelberg University Hospital and Heidelberg Medical Faculty. The NCT Heidelberg aims to link cancer research and patient care. Particular attention is paid to the establishment of innovative cancer therapies in the sense of patient-oriented, individualized cancer medicine.
The Division of Translational Medical Oncology at the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg is looking for a bioinformatician / computational oncologist eager to analyze cancer multi-omics data for direct patient benefit.
**Job description**:
You will work in an interdisciplinary team of bioinformaticians, molecular biologists, and clinicians to identify targetable molecular alterations in cancer patients to support the generation of personalized treatment recommendations as part of the MASTER (Molecularly Aided Stratification for Tumor Eradication) Program of NCT, DKFZ and the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK), one of the most advanced precision oncology initiatives worldwide. In addition, you will analyze complex multilayer diagnostics data to drive research projects in the field of precision oncology.
Specifically, you will
- Analyze whole-genome, exome, and transcriptome data from individual cancer patients as part of the MASTER clinical workflow using established analysis pipelines
- Improve existing and develop additional pipelines to optimize the identification of clinically relevant alterations, including complex biomarkers such as mutational signatures
- Analyze molecular data generated through the MASTER workflow to drive research projects in interdisciplinary teams with internal and external collaborators
**Requirements**:
- PhD degree in biology, cancer biology, systems biology, molecular biology, biomedical engineering, or related disciplines
- Bioinformatician with experience in the analysis of next-generation sequencing data
- Experience with human/medical genomics data and/or biomarker discovery is a plus
- Experience in quality management is an advantage
- Excellent English language skills
