The Institute of Human Genetics at Klinikum rechts der Isar, one of the leading University Hospital in Germany, is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to lead our Clinical Bioinformatics team. This pivotal role involves overseeing a growing team of currently 5 talented professionals and spearheading the maintenance, enhancement, and further development of our comprehensive Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) analysis platform for both research and diagnostics. The Institute of Human Genetics is at the forefront of genomic research and diagnostics, integrating new omics technologies into routine diagnostics. Operating within an ISO15189 accredited framework, we uphold the highest standards of quality and accuracy while pioneering and integrating cutting edge omics technologies. Moreover, our group actively participates in leading consortia such as the 1000 Bavarian Genomes Project and the DZHKomics resource and collaborates closely with the German Human Genome-Phenome Archive (GHGA) to facilitate genetic data accessibility for secondary use under the new German Law on Genomic Medicine (Modellvorhaben Genomsequenzierung nach -64e SGB V).

**Your responsibilities**:
You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the clinical expert system and the NGS analysis platform.
- Your primary task will be to ensure the timely and accurate analysis of routine NGS samples for diagnostics
- You will oversee the ISO15189 certification for the lab
- ou will coordinate your team and team efforts to interact efficiently with the clinical side, introduce new features and to continuously improve the pipeline infrastructure. Here your experience with agile project management tools comes in handy
- ou will plan and execute a strategy to transition the analysis workflows as well as the clinical expert system to the cloud-based infrastructure
- ou will have the opportunity to develop an own research focus related to developing and improving cutting edge molecular genetic diagnostics and supervise PhD students in your team

**Your profile**:

- Minimum of a Master's degree (MSc) in Bioinformatics, Informatics, Mathematics, Biology, Medicine, or similar field, but preference is given to Ph.D. holders
- Minimum 5 years of experience in developing, deploying, and managing NGS pipelines, e.g., Nextflow or Snakemake
- Proficiency in running and building DNA, RNA and other omics data analysis pipelines including QC steps
- Strong IT administration skills, including Linux administration, security measurements, and familiarity with the administration of Apache and MySQL services
- Familiarity with cloud-based systems, terraform, ansible, and containerization of workflows
- Previous leadership experience preferred
- Experience with relational databases (MySQL minimum) and programming languages such as Python, R, and Perl
- Fluency in English (min C1 level)
- German is beneficial to operate effectively within a German Hospital environment
