**The position**:
- Further developing, spreading and maintaining in-house FEL and Spontaneous Radiation-related theory
- Further developing and maintaining software necessary for the group mission, in particular the OCELOT software tool
- Devising and assessing advanced FEL schemes
- Taking part in the realization and commissioning of these schemes
- Taking part in FEL development activities during R&D beam time
- Contribute to simulations on the performance of the Superconducting Undulator afterburner being developed at the European XFEL
**Requirements**:
- Ph.D. in FEL or accelerator Physics
- Knowledge of advanced FEL techniques
- Experience in simulation codes
- Experience in FEL operation is preferred
- Experience with Python programming and with the OCELOT software tool is considered an asset
