The accelerator division has as its mission the design and operation of cutting‑edge accelerator facilities as well as accelerator R&D. PETRA IV is the planned new synchrotron radiation facility which is currently in the technical design phase. The goal of the project is to replace the 2.3 km long PETRA III storage ring with a new ultra‑low emittance ring based on multi-bend achromat technology.

**About your role**:

- Development of software for commissioning of the PETRA IV machine
- Beam optics design of the PETRA IV main ring and injectors
- Experimental verification of new algorithms and tools at PETRA III and support of PETRA III operation
- Beam dynamics studies for PETRA IV

**About you**:

- PhD in physics, engineering, mathematics, computer science or a related field or equivalent expertise, skills and experience
- Extended experience in storage ring beam dynamics
- Understanding of methods of electron optics correction
- Strong background in computing and software engineering
- Good programming skills, preferably in Python and C++
- Good communication skills
