QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The qualifications and skill requirements of this position include:
- Master’s degree required;
- Minimum of five (5) years of proven progressively responsible experience at the Director or Associate Director level;
- Demonstrated leadership excellence;
- Extensive knowledge of federal financial aid regulations and federal and state reporting requirements;
- Ability to analyze and streamline processes for efficiency;
- Broad understanding of federal and state regulations governing student services operations, including academic records security, FERPA, registration, billing, and admissions;
- Excellent capacity to analyze, comprehend, and provide appropriate solutions to problems and courses of action;
- Experience developing and managing budgets;
- Experience working with enterprise systems and other related software used in student services to leverage technology solutions for the betterment of the institution;
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and a demonstrated commitment of outstanding service to students;
- Ability to maintain strict accuracy and be detail oriented;
- Ability to interact diplomatically with the students, public, support staff, and College administrators in a professional, timely, and confidential manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Managing, allocating and awarding federal, state, and institutional funds in compliance with state and Title IV regulations;
- Creating and submitting all local, state and, federal reports;
- Leading the Financial Aid staff to continually develop and improve services to students;
- Supervising the day-to-day operations of the Financial Aid Office and all on-going assignments and responsibilities;
- Maintaining knowledge and expertise of all financial aid sources, including scholarships;
- Establishing priorities and goals for serving the financial needs for students attending IRSC;
- Publishing information on all financial aid programs as well as the distribution, collection, and tracking of IRSC Foundation Scholarships.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Administering all functions of the Financial Aid Office;
- Supervising all Financial Aid employees and completing all associated responsibilities;
- Ensuring timely preparation, submission, and analysis of all funding reports;
- Directing the awarding of all financial aid funds;
- Authorizing the disbursement of funds; Interpreting federal and state regulations and guidelines and implementing policies and procedures that are incompliance with them;
- Defining, researching, and establishing requirements for computer support and interfaces with other areas of the college and all systems involved;
- Training staff and providing financial aid workshops in partnership with the Admissions Office;
- Ensuring accurate records management and certification for Veterans Affairs in partnership with the Military and Veterans Services Office;
- Serving as a resource to other areas of the college as they relate to Financial Aid;
- Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
