QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

- Associate’s degree preferred;
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting student success;
- Proven leadership in solving student problems;
- Documented work experience in the area of customer service;
- Strong communication skills - both verbal and written;
- Ability to relate well to a diverse student population;
- Ability to maintain strict accuracy and be detail oriented;
- Ability to work independently as well as with others and be self-motivated;
- Proven clerical experience;
- Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks at once;
- Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

- Assisting students and parents through the financial aid process
- Answering telephones and responding to telephone inquiries;
- Filing;
- Completing data entry;
- Assisting students in verification of services to third parties;
- Interacting with students effectively;
- Assisting with Veteran students and processing of VA paperwork;- Assisting with financial aid presentations and workshops;
- Supporting all activities of the Financial Aid Office and other offices as necessary.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

- Supporting the Financial Aid Office in record keeping;
- Communicating with students and coordinating with other IRSC offices and staff as appropriate regarding work performed;
- Answering incoming telephone calls and responding to telephone inquiries;
- Assisting students and parents with questions and paperwork;
- Completing standard form requests;
- Entering and updating documents and other information in the computer as required;
- Distributing financial aid and scholarship information;
- Processing veterans’ files;
- Entering VA information into VA system;
- Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
