Primary duties will include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for managing all scholarship and financial aid programs under purview of the Assistant Director. Keeps abreast of fund balances in order not to exceed program allocation and to assist Director with reconciliation of disbursements.
Assists the Assistant Director of Student Financial Services with monitoring and coordinating scholarship programs in relation to financial aid and college policies. Assists with the implementation of policies stemming from new scholarship programs, federal and state regulations updates to ensure compliance.
Acts as liaison to scholarship organization and provide counseling for students regarding scholarships, and other financial aid. Maintains statistical data and letters pertaining to scholarship, consumer information, and maintains the office procedures manual.
Assists in the development and implementation of cross-training activities for the financial aid staff. Assists in implementing computer systems. Acts as a liaison with other college offices. Supervises Workstudy and OPS and represents Director of Financial Aid as needed.
Responsible for awarding of scholarships and assisting staff with awarding of other financial aid as mandated by the U. S. Dept. of Education.
MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience in financial aid, registration, counseling, and/or veteran’s affairs. A master’s degree may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Exceptional people skills. Knowledge of Federal, State and private scholarships. Knowledge of State Board rules for community colleges. Knowledge of Florida State Laws, State Board rules, as they apply to scholarships and financial aid. Knowledge of TCC foundation scholarships and grants. Knowledge of the basic principles of accounting. Knowledge of student record keeping principles. Knowledge of the Privacy Act. Knowledge of the standards of satisfactory academic progress for financial aid. Ability to develop institutional procedures as they relate to financial aid and scholarships. Ability to learn quickly. Ability to work independently. Ability to make independent judgments. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to work with personal computer and mainframe functions. Ability to verify data for accuracy and completeness. Ability to supervise student and OPS workers. Ability to counsel students regarding scholarships and financial aid. Ability to handle scholarship concerns in the absence of the Director of Assistant Directors. Ability to implement and test scholarship software programs. Ability to work with scholarship donors. Ability to work with the Business Office to balance reports and ensure timely payment of students. Ability to locate new scholarships for students. Ability to create reports for the foundation, donors and college use. Ability to create reports for the foundation, donors and college use. Ability to work in a team environment.
