Enterprise Data Architect - Germany (remote)


A global e-commerce organisation is seeking an Enterprise Data Architect to lead their data journey. The organisation is dedicated to creating smart solutions for customers worldwide and offers a flexible environment for growth.


Reporting into the CTO, you will play a pivotal role in driving the data strategy, owning data architecture principles, and managing the enterprise data model at both conceptual and logical levels. This position requires strong communication skills, a consulting mindset, and the ability to work conceptually and practically with data.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Own the Data Architecture Principles.
  • Co-own and lead the Data Strategy.
  • Co-own the enterprise data model on a conceptual level and own it on a logical level.
  • Consult and oversee solution architecture on the physical level.
  • Lead data governance, including quality, security, privacy, and GDPR compliance.
  • Actively collaborate with technical architects on enterprise and solution levels.
  • Engage with business process architects.
  • Define and foster data architecture principles.
  • Drive the creation, implementation, and maintenance of an enterprise data model.
  • Link the big picture of data to individual solutions.
  • Engage in hiring and mentoring data professionals.
  • Ensure agile software delivery across various locations.


Skills and Experience:


  • Strong communication skills to connect people across business units and roles.
  • Deep knowledge of state-of-the-art data processing technologies.
  • Understanding of different database technologies, including Relational, NoSQL, and Data Lakes.
  • Proficiency in GCP is ideal (other clouds also considered).
  • Experience with modern software delivery and lifecycle management.
  • Skills in data modelling and governance models.
  • Consulting mindset with the ability to share information and support projects proactively.
  • Experience in bringing AI/ML into business processes and understanding the role of data management in such solutions.
  • Familiarity with agile software delivery.
