Summary

Spheres is actively seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and versatile Technical Lead (Back End/ Full-Stack). In this role, you will be responsible for the entire technical development of our digital products and services and a key contributor to Spheres’ mission to reshape the European investment landscape. As you are building the product from the ground up this role requires hands-on work at the beginning and can transform into a more managerial role as the team grows.

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and versatile backend developer to join our team as Technical Lead. The person will oversee building Spheres product and technical solutions from day one. You will build a world class tech team enabling Spheres to fulfill its vision to become Europe’s #1 investment office for founders and family entrepreneurs. You will drive our product's technical direction, mentoring junior developers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and flexible solutions.

  • Take full ownership of the tech stack from building to maintaining it.
  • Define the architecture of Spheres product making it flexible to a growing feature scope and different sources of data.
  • Hire and manage a team of backend and front-end engineers across internal and external resources.
  • Build innovative digital-first wealth management solutions that exceed our members’ and partners’ expectations (e.g. an ai-driven data migration solution for our members’ and partners’ private assets, portfolio liquidity solutions, capital call automation, etc).
  • Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and system architecture.
  • Ensure code quality and maintainability by conducting code reviews, writing tests, and documenting work.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and risks to ensure timely delivery of projects.
  • Lead by example in writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and debugging critical issues in production environments.


Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as backend or full-stack developer, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of back-end technologies and proven track record in delivering them
  • Experience with front-end technologies and frameworks
  • Experience with database design and management
  • Strong knowledge of web services and APIs.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Collaborative; you seek to build networks and partnerships, not empires.
  • Excellent communication skills; you are concise and precise, including when managing your team of developers.
  • Strong leadership skills; you lead by example and are a strong mentor for junior developers
  • Fluent in English. Proficiency in German is a plus.
