Business Controller Maritime Industry

Founded in 1921, OLDENDORFF CARRIERS combines its history as a German shipowner with the network of one of the world's leading drybulk operators. We currently control some 700 chartered and owned vessels of 40 mio tdw, and we carry around 380 mio tons of raw materials and semi-finished products across the seven seas each year. Our customers can expect 100% performance. All the way.
We consider ourselves as business partners and consequently you will not only prepare analyses and reports upon request from the specialist departments together with the team, but also proactively develop analyses to identify risks or opportunities.
We are looking for a person who is having an attention for details and at the same time does not lose sight of the bigger picture. It is also essential that you look forward to become part of a large and cooperative team in Controlling, as we believe that teamwork plays a crucial role in being successful.
Aufgaben
- Maintain and improve relationships with various stakeholders on financial topics
- Develop and implement performance metrics to help the business to make well-informed decisions
- Contribute to budgeting, variance analysis and long-term financial planning as well as to the preparation of the financial statements
- Maintain and improve the existing reporting with the aim to create transparency and generate better insights
- Analyze the PnL and communicate the main driver of deviations towards the management
- Convey reporting requirements to our Data Modeling team and support them in developing a feasible technical solution by offering consultancy and acceptance testing
- Collaboratively work on solutions in our shipping ERP system for new business requirements
- Actively partake in cross-departmental projects within the Finance organization
Profil
- A confident and outgoing candidate that enjoys to communicate in an international team
- A degree in Business, Finance, Analytics, Statistics, Mathmatics or in a similar field
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact with the management and our Commercial team
- The ability to work self-motivated and self-driven
- The drive to continuously improve working tools and processes
- Feel comfortable to multitask & work in a fast-paced environment
- Sound Excel knowledge
- Experience in working with Business Intelligence products (preferably Power BI) and in the shipping sector is advantageous
