Tourism Ireland is responsible for marketing the island of Ireland overseas as a holiday and business tourism destination.

It was established as one of the "six areas of co-operation" under the framework of the Belfast Agreement of Good Friday 1998.

Our remit is to increase tourism to the island of Ireland and to support Northern Ireland to realise its tourism potential.

Tourism Ireland's up to 150 staff create world-class marketing programmes in 23 markets across the world as well as centrally in Dublin and Coleraine.


SENIOR PUBLICITY EXECUTIVE

Purpose of the role:

  • Develop, implement and evaluate publicity plans, programmes and activities generating a positive profile for the island of Ireland as a tourism destination and thereby influencing consumer opinion and behaviour.
  • Working with local and Head Office colleagues to develop and drive our influencer/blogger relationship management strategy.
  • The Senior Publicity Executive will contribute to the overall strategic direction of Tourism Ireland in Germany by contributing to the development of marketing and operational plans.
  • Note: This role will involve some travel and work outside normal business hours._

The Duties - Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Publicity

  • Support the planning and development of an annual publicity plan that integrates fully with the Tourism Ireland Germany operational plan and strategic priorities in the German market place, which contribute to the delivery of German visitor targets and KPIs.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate agreed Publicity programmes by outreach to media, handling daytoday liaison, relationship building and arranging briefing updates with journalists, writers, bloggers and broadcasters.
  • Lead management of the publicity CRM database and oversee the development and implementation for the German market.
  • Organise, participate and evaluate media events in the German market.
  • Responsibility for organisation and evaluation of media visits in collaboration with our sister agencies Tourism Northern Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
  • Manage and develop publicity campaigns for special occasions in Germany together with Publicity Assistant.
  • Act as daytoday lead on PR agency management and relationship. This includes regular catchup meetings, project briefings, induction for new team members etc.
  • Maximise news potential delivered by VIP visits to the German market and/or other opportunities for Ireland by proactive storypitching to media, in collaboration with PR agency.
  • In collaboration with Publicity Assistant monitor, record and report publicity coverage on Tourism Ireland's 'Carma' system. Showcase results in presentations and regularly share information with Tourism Ireland's key stakeholders.
  • Ensure high level of customer service is delivered when serving publicity and customer enquiries.

Budget & General Duties

  • Ensure effective budget management for key projects, allocating and managing resources in line with company policy and procedures.
  • Act as line manager for Publicity assistant and intern and manage all HR aspects in relation to same.
  • Contribute regularly to the development of quarterly and other timely reports and presentations in response to regular monitoring, parliamentary questions and corporate stakeholder requests.
  • Ensure adherence in your area of responsibility to the company's GDPR compliance policies and procedures.
  • This job will involve travel within the island of Ireland and Germany as well as some unsocial hours. The post holder will also be expected to represent Tourism Ireland at various industry and corporate functions and events as part of Tourism Ireland's German team.
  • Undertake German market projects as requested by Manager Germany or Consumer Communications Manag er and such other duties as the company my from time to time require.

The Person

  • Essential_
  • Fluent German speaker with excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentations and proofreading.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Relevant PR / journalism experience including track record in developing ongoing relationships with the media.
  • Profound knowledge and understanding of the traditional as well as new/digital media and PR landscape in Germany.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail, including planning and project management.
  • A selfstarter who can work on own initiative and can deliver to tight timescales and deadlines.
  • Experience in working with media industry databases as well as PR agencies.
  • A commitment to Tourism Ireland's values and evidence of demonstrating these values in practice: Respect, collaboration, ownership, creativity
  • Desirable_
  • Knowledge of the island of Ireland and its tourism economy/products.
  • Educated to degree level with a qualification in business, marketing, communications or other relevant discipline.
