What you'll do:
PlusOne Central Engineering is the development team behind the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform SAP Converged Cloud. We are running in 15 SAP owned data centers distributed world-wide. By augmenting an opinionated OpenStack distribution with bespoke services, we are meeting the demand of SAP’s cloud business. As true advocates for open source, we are underpinning our operations with Kubernetes and a cloud-native tech stack.
Our roadmap includes transforming SAP Converged Cloud into a public cloud offering and expanding its capabilities with new services to support SAP Business AI and SAP BTP. A development hotspot is the evolution of network capabilities around firewall and connectivity into API-driven services. We are also reimagining how to provision compute, gpu, storage, and network devices. The development tasks span from bare metal up to the API layer.

In this role you will…
- Provide application implementation services typically within the boundaries of specifications and project plans.
- Design activities include requirements analysis and design documentation.
- Implementation activities include implementation, testing and integration.
- Maintenance activities include error analysis and removal.
- Usually extend, modify or adapt existing designs but may also be involved in the development of new (sub-)systems.
What you bring:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Proven experience in leading software development projects, with a focus on delivering high-quality software on time and within budget.
- Expertise in project management methodologies like Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall, with a solid track record of managing cross-functional teams and complex project schedules.
- Experience with project management tools such as Jira and familiarity with version control systems like Git.
- Ability to identify and mitigate project risks, with experience in managing scope, timeline, and resource constraints effectively
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems and develop innovative solutions
- Commitment to continuous improvement and learning, staying updated with the latest trends in software development and project management practices
- Excellent abstract problem-solving skills, high level of commitment and reliability, good communication skills, fun working in a multinational team, understanding the dynamics of communication in open-source projects.

The GCID PlusOne Central Engineering Unit is a globally diverse and innovative team running Converged Cloud, a state-of-the-art private cloud solution. This internal Infrastructure-as-a-Service platform is deployed worldwide in 15 regions to support all of SAP’s cloud businesses on a global scale.
