Demand for cement has almost tripled in the last 25 years and CO2 emissions from cement production now account for 8% of global industrial emissions. To reduce emissions, the DLR project aims to replace fossil fuel combustion with solar energy. Therefore, a solar rotary kiln will be developed for the calcination process.
You will begin with a literature review of the existing and most commonly used models of convection and conduction in solar rotary kilns. Your results will be validated by experiments carried out in August/September on a solar rotary kiln reactor. current studies in computational engineering or science, mechanical engineering, mathematics, physics, or similar
knowledge of numerical modelling (FEM, CFD) with OpenFOAM is crucial
experience with programming, high-performance computing & Linux environment
fluent English language skills complete your profile
