We are seeking a highly skilled Master student in Computational Engineering to join our team at the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR). As a leading research center, we are committed to advancing the field of renewable energy and developing innovative solutions for a sustainable future.
About the Role:
- We are looking for a talented individual with expertise in numerical simulation, computational modeling, and fluid dynamics to work on a cutting-edge project focused on the development of a solar reactor for the production of renewable hydrogen.
The Institute of Future Fuels at DLR is dedicated to making renewable energy resources available to replace fossil fuels. Our team is working on developing solutions for cost-effective production of hydrogen and fuels on an industrial scale using renewable energies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a numerical reactor model to interpret experimental data and optimize the design of a new reactor type.
- Simulate heat and mass transport during cyclic reactor operation, considering convection, thermal radiation, and efficient water vapor flow through the material.
- Collaborate with our team of experts to develop and implement numerical models and simulations.
Requirements:
- Current studies in computational engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
- Strong skills in numerical modeling, ideally with OpenFOAM.
- Knowledge of thermal and mass transport mechanisms, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
- Experience with programming (Python) and constructing CAD models is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English for effective collaboration with our international team.
