ICDP Program Officer

The successful candidate will be contact person for the ICDP panelists (delegates from member countries), their national offices and funding agencies, responsible for the planning, conducting and evaluating of the annual ICDP panel meetings, and support the ICDP Executive Director and help to oversee the ICDP budget.

The successful candidate will work with the ICDP Executive Director and the ICDP Operational Support Group to coordinate ICDP activities in the following fields: 

Liaison with ICDP scientists, representatives of funding organizations, delegates from ICDP member countries and partner organizations  Organization, realization and documentation of the annual ICDP panel meetings and workshops Organization of ICDP membership and financial contributions Administrative handling of ICDPs legal and financial matters in cooperation with the in-house administration Representing ICDP on international conferences and meetings

The position is dynamic and will evolve in line with the requirements of ICDP.

The ideal candidate will have: 

BSc or MSc degree or PhD in Earth or Natural Sciences or in Science Management Experience in the assistance and/or coordination of large-scale international Earth science programs, including Planning and conducting of meetingsKnowledge in large-scale program budget control and overviewExperience in working with science funding organizationsKnowledge in reporting  Ability for and willingness to work in a multidisciplinary team and to communicate with international partners Excellent command of spoken and written German and English is required as is the ability to work in a team in a multi-cultural environment Ability and willingness to travel internationally

Fixed-term: Until 31st December 2025 (with option for continuation)
Salary: The salary grouping is determined by the conditions of the Collective Wage Agreement “TVöD Bund (Tarifgebiet Ost)” and the appropriate personal qualifications.
Working hours: Full-time (currently 39 h/week); The position is generally suitable for part-time work.
Place of work: Potsdam
